The MEDITERREAN

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

I love the MED either by a long cruise or by car or train. It has the most amazing landscape either from viewing it from a ship out at sea or riding along the coast and looking behind where you came, forward to where you are going, or just being mesmerized by the colors of the sea.  I have not yet traveled along the lower MED hitting such amazing sites as Alexandria, Dubai, or Turkey but plan on doing so in the next year or two. My experiences have all been along the European MED from Barcelona to Athens, which technically is not part of the MED but included in many talks of the MED.

Alaska

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

We last (first for me) visited Alaska in the summer of 2008. It was my first trip and the Travelprof’s six trip- thus started the first discussion on “what to bring and wear on your trip to Alaska”.  We try to travel light but I wanted mittens, hat, scarf, warm coat and he said” it’s July- it will be warm, sunny, and daylight 23 hrs- you don’t need all that stuff!” The glacier peaks

Oasis of the Seas #2

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Just got finished doing the WJR radio Show on the “Oasis of TheOOTS-Logo Seas” and what a trip this has been. We were told that there were 3200 guests on board (and I hate crowds)  but the ship has so many small  intimate spaces and is so large you never felt overwhelmed by all those people.  We did not talk on the show about the Spa services or the gym facility. Both were unbelievable. The spa in the largest I have seen on a ship. Very Far Eastern Zen like serene, atmosphere, all bamboo and of course Eucalyptus wonderful smell wafting through out. They are now giving 24K gold facials (I did not have one because I am sure there is a 24K price tag with it) but it looked intriguing. In addition the Gym/exercise facility has all state-of-the-art equipment and something new called gravity classes. It’s on machines that you are upside down on while you exercise.

Oasis of the Seas

oasisoftheseas

Just dropping a line before getting packed to help the Travel Professor broadcast his radio show live from the Largest Ship in the world. Five times bigger than the Titanic! A merry-go-round, a zip line, and aqua theater, a moving bar that travels through five cities. Even though the Travel Prof and I disagree on bigger is better (him-typical male) even I am excited to see this ship, the just delivered “Oasis of the Seas”, Royal Caribbean’s new baby. We get on board her Friday and leave Sunday and by the looks of her I don’t think two days will be enough to experience all this ship holds. (more…)
